Quite possibly one of the worst apps I used. I set up my server on Nvidia hoping to replace Plex but it never worked! I know my way around things like that but I couldn't even get the app on my Nvidia to recognize the server on the same Nvidia player.. Could not connect my phone to it either very confusing set up! Also, u should provide at least 3 days free try for premium service to see if i like it before paying for it. Back to Plex!

Switched to emby from plex, a service I've used for 7+ years and it's like night and day. My videos load faster in the apps there's no waiting for the thumbnails to populate. The streams are instant whereas constant buffering with plex. Absolutely love it.

Decent app. Android Auto needs some work, looking for a song or album in a large library is... Slow. Very very slow because there is no search function for the screen. Amazing to me that this basic function has yet to be added.

The server was easy to install and looks nice, but the app on the phone loses the chromecast too much and does not list it in the available stream sources. Still needs more refinement before I could switch to it from my other media server app.

Moved back to Emby recently and purchased Premiere. Really great! The web works well, but there's not parity between experiences in the client app on every platform. Media support varies by device, so be sure to research for your purchases if you intend to use them with Emby.

Edit: thanks for replying. Updating my score as the app is not designed for my needs. Looking elsewhere Original: I was looking for an app to connect to my SMB shares that are hosted by my router, have this app find categorise those files and present them on an attractive UI, and allow me to cast them to Chromecast on my TV. Is it a prerequisite to install emby server?

Worthless, they want me to reconfigure/ rename my entire 80TB library, 1000s of files, none of the meta data is right and when you change it and lock it it reverses it to some random movie or tv show. Had it for a week and it never stopped building library. Plex takes 3 days to rebuild the entire library with thumbnails chapter previews.

A solid media app. The download issues look resolved. Playback does stop after 5 seconds on some direct play titles on the same network, but works again with no problems after a force stop. It might just be a bug in this version. Using a OnePlus 8 Pro. Still a nice app and a clean ui. I do recommend for your media home server
