ABC listen: Radio & Podcasts

Effective for ABC radio and podcasts. Used since first available. Has been better. Have had spinning issues and cleared storage and cache which helped. Like ability to store favourite radio stations and programs, and news broadcasts. Wish it would offer the full replays of radio program episodes like breakfast, nightlife etc as on their web site. If there, why not a link in app? Also like ability to put some menu items on a favourite bar or similar, like sleep timer which is now buried.

Often seems to crash upon first start and requires a second tap to start it. Quite often, but not always, the Featured Episodes are not there. Can be resolved by restarting the app. Have experienced that the actually played podcast is not the one being displayed. Lots of room for improvement! Update 17/3/2022 When a podcast has been played to the end and the play button is pressed again, the next podcast is being played, though the the text for the first one is still being shown. Misleading.

Enjoyed listening to ABC Listen every night while getting dinner and now it has gone. I have an induction cooktop so cannot listen to my radio due to the interference - have been told it is on the same frequency. Apparently my phone is not up-to-date enough for the ABC since the last updates, although it suits every other need I have. The app is still installed. I tried deleting it and reinstalling it without success and then I discovered all these comments on line. Not happy. Living in the country, the ABC is a very big part of my life and has been for many years. This new way of radio delivery was fantastic. Have marked one star because I hate what has been done.

Just got an update on this app. The alarm setting is now easier to find which would be great except it no longer works. Have set it a number of times and it simply doesnt fire up at the appointed time. Also annoying that the alarm page always opens set to abc sydney - surely if it can't remember the last station it would make more sense to default to RN. Yet another example of a complete lack of beta testing I'm afraid but very disappointing from a large org with comms as it's primary function

Really like this app, particularly when interstate. I can then listen to my favourite station, ABC Radio Perth in the mornings and afternoons, as I don't think the local radio shows in Sydney and Melbourne are as good. What I don't like about the app is, being digital, it drops out at times when I'm out and about walking and driving. Also, I don't use when watching the footy live, as digital is about 30 seconds behind the play, so listen to ABC on am radio instead!

This is now an extremely frustrating app. It keeps crashing and you miss out on most of the content. Almost makes me want to move to commercial radio. Hopefully they will be allotted more more in the next budget and can fix all the bugs in the system. They can't even get text messages through from listeners because the text line is always down!

I like the concept of this app and mostly it works OK. It does hang every now and then which is frustrating, but my biggest complaint is the unreliability using it via Android Auto. 9 times out of 10 when you try and use the app in the car you get the spinning wheel of death and nothing appears on the screen . If you open another audio app and play some music and then come back to the ABC listen app it will work straight away. It's like you need to listen to an audio from another first.

This used to be a fantastic. Current version is broken. See numerous user comments. Please roll back to stable version and fix bugs before rereleasing. My issues are with app playing wrong track (often repeating the same one), when selected either manually or automatically. Wrong track information is displayed. Downloaded tracks needing a "connection" not playing. Errors can be temporarily fixed by exiting and re-opening, but soon reoccur. Makes listening frustrating for all but long tracks.

Last update fixed the issue with local news bulletins. Great app overall, not my personal preference for the menu style, although I like there is a dedicated and quick to get too favourites area. I think the 'your episodes' list with continue, new discover etc. would be better served in its own downward list within the favourites section with the current form staying as a quick access area. The thing that would make this app complete would be a 'radio guide' like a tv guide.
