Tidal absolutely kills it when it comes to audio quality. The CD and MQA lossless tracks blow Spotify out of the water and it's not even close. However, the app itself is janky, even on Windows desktop. I use the android version on my phone everyday and it crashes at least once. Playing in my car, using a Bluetooth headset, or even wired in it'll get laggy or skip then crash. To me it's worth dealing with these issues because of the quality but fair warning, the app itself needs work.

Competitively priced and great sound. Bad volume normalisation. Lacking music discovery: no equivalent to Spotify Smart Shuffle, no radio of playlists, the "Custom mixes for you" miss the mark. Doesn't let you playback locally stored audio files. No offline music on Garmin watches (Spotify, Amazon Music & Deezer have integration). No podcasts (debatable if necessary).

Hands down the best quality, but there is one major problem. Only problem i have with the app, is that i have to use my phone and tablet horizontally for work(12hrs+) and there is zero functionality besides (back, foward, play and pause), and i cant browse the app without rotating my tablet back vertically. Please, can you make the app work in horizontal mode and add more functionality to the player. (Browse,shuffle,repeat, the ability to move the slider.) Would appreciate the fix.

obvious recognition
The app is seriously buggy as hell, exiting the app will make it go crazy and stop any playback and it will glitch out the user interface when you re-enter it, forcing you to kill the app and boot again. Don't get me wrong i love the service but both the phone app and desktop app are very poor in optimization to the point that i am accessing TIDAL through my browser and i have a smoother experience that way. Once these things are resolved it's going to be a solid 5 stars from me.

Spent most of yesterday downloading music only to have it tell me today the content was unavailable and the workaround is to redownload it, what a useless feature. Noise normalisation does not work, spend too much time having to change the volume between songs. Random crashes for no reason. When it works sound quality is great but this is a buggy mess. Going back to Spotify. I'll take reliability over sound quality.

Love Tidal and the HiFi + new price, but there are two major flaws: 1. It's too hard to block certain artists/songs within the app. I want to be able to select a song from anywhere and hide track/artist from all of my Tidal account. 2. When downloading a playlist to your phone, the songs that are on multiple playlists will download multiple times, taking up extra space. On spotify downloaded songs can be on multiple playlists, it just downloads the songs once. Tidal please add these features!

Finally canceled my subscription today. This has felt like a toxic relationship for a while now. So many playback issues and all the trouble shooting support provided has been useless. Delete the app, update the app, log out and back in. Useless. I give tidal 1* because I remember the good times. I can hardly ever make it through a song anymore without it stopping 3+ times. I was rocking with Tidal for at least 8 years and yall couldn't fix this issue. Bye. *signs up for Spotify subscription*

The service is great. Catalog, sound quality, value, features, satisfied with all of these. And Tidal pays artists more per play. These are all excellent. BUT! My phone has offered to put the app in deep sleep twice because it crashes so often! I cannot play through a single playlist without crashes! You're so close to being great, fix your stability issues!

I love this app!! When I listen to music on my phone it's like a crumpled up piece of paper where the music is all laid out and Spotify is all wrinky and the edges aren't perfect and there's pieces that are folded over and it's all whatever. Tidal folds and irons out the pieces of that music. I've listened to my favourite songs and have heard parts of them I've never heard before. The highs and lows are amazing. EXCEPT FOR WHEN THIS GODAWFUL APP DOESNT WORK!! ITS BUGGY AS HELL SOMETIMES WORKS!!
